50/50 Initiative
50/50 Program for Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Cats
Many times when we TNR a colony, there are kittens that can be socialized or come across owned cats that have been abandoned. In such cases, our mission extends beyond just TNR—we aim to find loving homes for these cats and kittens. Recognizing the importance of spaying and neutering to prevent future litters, we offer these adopters a unique incentive: a spay/neuter spot at one of our participating clinics.
Program Details:
- Identifying Adoptable Cats: During the TNR process, our team assesses which cats and kittens are friendly or can be tamed. We also take in abandoned house cats that have been dumped, ensuring they receive the care they need.
- Finding Homes: We work diligently to find suitable homes for these cats and kittens, collaborating with adoption networks, foster families, and potential pet owners.
- Spay/Neuter Incentive: To encourage responsible pet ownership and reduce future overpopulation, we offer adopters a spay/neuter spot at our participating clinics. Friends of Feral (FOF) will cover half of the cost of these procedures, up to $60 per cat.
- End the Cycle: By promoting and supporting spaying and neutering, we aim to end the endless cycle of kittens. This program is a vital part of our commitment to humane population control and the well-being of cats in our community.
Our 50/50 program not only helps control the cat population but also ensures that every cat has a chance at a better life in a loving home. Through these efforts, we strive to create a more compassionate and balanced environment for both cats and humans.
