Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Program

What is TNR? Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a humane and effective strategy for managing and reducing feral cat populations. This method involves trapping free-roaming cats, having them spayed or neutered, vaccinating them, and then returning them to their original locations. TNR helps improve the quality of life for feral cats, reduces the number of new litters, and addresses public health concerns.

Why TNR?

    • Population Control: TNR stabilizes cat colonies by preventing new litters. Over time, the population of feral cats decreases naturally.
    • Healthier Cats: Cats in TNR programs receive vaccinations and medical care, leading to healthier lives and a reduced spread of diseases.
    • Reduced Nuisance: Neutered cats are less likely to exhibit undesirable behaviors such as fighting, spraying, and yowling.
    • Less Shelter Intake: TNR reduces the number of cats entering shelters, which can lead to fewer euthanasias and more resources for adoptable pets.
    • Community Harmony: By managing cat populations humanely, TNR fosters better coexistence between cats and humans.

How TNR Works:

    • Trapping: We humanely trap feral cats using safe and effective traps.
    • Neutering/Spaying: The cats are taken to a veterinary clinic where they are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and ear-tipped (a small part of the ear is removed to indicate they have been sterilized).
    • Returning: After recovery, the cats are returned to their original locations where they can continue to live under the care of community members.

Our Programs:

    • First Aid for Ferals: Provides essential medical supplies like eye ointments, and flea treatments to caregivers.
    • Feeding the Feral: A cat-food bank that connects donors with caregivers. We have drop/pick-up sites and offer delivery services to ensure no cat goes hungry.
